A short prose about rosemary
I have a dream this summer,
Nothing grand,
Or I should say that most people would not consider it to be grand,
Nevertheless, I have a dream, and that is to grow rosemary.
“Rosemary as in the herb?” asks my friend.
“Yes, that rosemary,” I respond.
“Do you cook with rosemary?” she asks.
“No, except maybe to place a sprig or two on the smashed red potatoes I occasionally make.”
“How often do you make the potatoes?”
“Once or twice a year,”
“Then why do you want to grow rosemary?
“You can buy it at the store, without all that work.”
“Why you might ask?”
“Yea, why rosemary,” she asks as if I am wasting time.
“I like the way the rosemary leaves spread.
I remember once when I was in my friend’s garden and I faintly brush against its leaves, the air scented- earthy and woody,
Its perky leaves,
reminds me of a mini-evergreen shrub.
I like its hardiness,” I said
“Yes, I have heard a few good things about rosemary,” she said.
“To know it is there when I need it,
And it is a plant in my garden too would be great.
I love gardens, and a garden full of herbs is even better.
Mint is there, basil is growing,
Chives are sprouting, and just one more will make my herb garden full, and I am sure I find more use for rosemary when I start growing it.” I added.
“My friend, that is a good summer dream. when are you going to get started?” she asks.
“Why not now?” I reply.
