It is an excellent topping on fajitas and sandwiches. If you like, you can just take some corn or flour tortilla and heap of sauteed onions and eat it by itself as a quick snack. When it comes to it, you can add it in salads, appetizers, main dishes, soups, or any food that you want that crunchy, smooth texture.
Three types of onions
The three types of onion that they mostly use to sauté are yellow onion, white onions, and Walla Walla onions.
Walla Walla onions are known as sweet onions. No, they don’t taste like chocolates. You don’t want your onions to taste like chocolates, or do you? I have never tried onions with chocolates. I tell you what though, these onions (the purple/red onions) sauteed do melt in my mouth.
Then why would someone call onions, sweet onions? I read that that they are called sweet onions because they make you cry less while you dice them because of their lower sulfur content.
